A SUMMER OF BRIGHT SHADOWS

DSC00206The summer season has just officially begun, but for Stacy Tincher and Jason Borg, half of their summer internship is completed. Stacy and Jason are finishing their 6th week of a scheduled 12 week working, learning and evaluation stint at Kelly Supply, in cooperation with the University of Nebraska at Kearney.

The first two weeks were spent between the Grand Island and Hastings branches. Weeks 3 and 4 saw Stacy in Norfolk and Jason in the Lincoln branch. The 5th and 6th weeks brought them back to GI and Hastings.

They both agreed that there is a uniformity between branches and their processes, yet each one has their own unique way of applying those processes.

“Kelly Supply has provided us with a well-rounded experience,” Stacy says, “that allows us to meet the needs of Industrial Distribution as well as meeting the expectations of Kelly Supply.”DSC00206crop

Both interns have hit the ground running, performing shipping and receiving duties, getting a grasp of Prophet 21, working with both inside and outside salesmen, as well as meeting with representatives of various departments throughout the company.

“Nicki (Stoltenberg) has been a tremendous help,” Jason says. “She has been all over this program for us and we are able to diversify much more than other companies would have allowed us to in their internship programs.”

Stacy commented how KSC employees “interact like family”. She was impressed by the solid foundation on which KSC is anchored.

While shadowing long time KSC employees in order to learn the wide variety of business activity that is ongoing at Kelly Supply, the internship program also allows Stacy and Jason to interject aspects of their own wholesale distribution philosophy and suggest methods that may be conducive to achieving a more highly efficient standard.

We might think of them as “shadows who cast light”.

Stacy lives in Kearney with her husband and three children. She enjoys golfing and camping. She will graduate from UNK on July 30.

DSC00235Jason, who will be a Spring 2011 graduate, is from Stuart, NE. He has a passion for Motocross and likes fishing and waterfowl hunting.

We are happy to have them both on board this summer and hope they find their internships at KSC to be fulfilling as well as integral to their future career paths.
