BEYOND THE FAIRGROUNDS……

As most know by now, the Nebraska State Fair will be hosted by the city of Grand Island for the first time since its inception 141 years ago. The 2010 State Fair’s opening date is August 27 and it will run through September 6th.

When you think of a state fair, the first things that come to mind are 4-H exhibitions, livestock shows, midway barkers, ferris wheels and roller coasters, and maybe even popular country singers taking center stage.

But the State Fair can mean more to that area beyond the fairgrounds. Commerce becomes livelier in the host city. Fully booked motels, crowded restaurants, busy filling stations, and increased retail trade are just some of the benefits to be reaped while the fair is in town.

With the possible influx of 300,000 visitors to Grand Island during this time period, Kelly Supply is taking the opportunity of welcoming fairgoers to stop by its GI branch location where coffee and popcorn will be served and tours of the facility will be conducted.

Welcome fliers are being distributed in all Nebraska branches, both at the counter and as package “stuffers” in outgoing UPS shipments. Anticipating a state-wide draw, this will be GI’s chance to meet long time customers who have been served for years by other KSC locations yet have never had the chance to stop by the Grand Island branch.
